Researching
Your Genealogy Online
These are the
online links and commentary used for my Researching
Your Genealogy Online class. The main focus of the
class (and these notes) is to teach you HOW to use the Internet (Web,
email, ftp, etc.) during your genealogy search.
Not only is
this page designed as a resource for my students, but also for the
wider Web community at large. The following information may
change because broken links or new resources found.
WEB SEARCH ENGINES
Web "Search Engines" are special Web sites that search
and index other Web sites. To use a search engine, you usually go
to the site and type in a word or two into a text box and then press
the ENTER key on your keyboard. The search engine will then
search for Web pages featuring those keywords.
Remember, even the best Search Engine will never be able
to find all results for a given topic.
