Go get 'em Tiger!

I can't wait to see what they have added and improved.

Speaking of improvements, make your Cube look like a G5.

I hope they've finally made the Finder *really* not suck, unlike last time when they rewrote it and added more features but still didn't fix the "sucking" problem.

How do you think finder "sucks"?

There's a few things which annoy me:

- Still no spatial memory stuff
- It's still inconsistent about when it saves folder-specific view settings, and which ones get saved
- Spring-loaded folders seem to override drag-scrolling in a lot of cases, and the drag-scroll boundary is way too thin, which combine to make complex file operations on large folders very annoying
- Labels are still basically useless (it looks like Apple's UI engineers have gotten a case of the stupids when it comes to how to make dynamic stuff - does everything REALLY have to be stored as a bitmap resource?!)
- You can have metal windows, OR a shelf, but not both. (I hate metal windows, but I love the shelf.)
- Sometimes a Finder view decides that its internal coordinate system is offset from the displayed coordinare system, so I have to click on the item above or below the one I actually am trying to use (and if the one I want to use is at the edge of the window, it's often inaccessible)
- It seems to preserve nonsensical scroll positions
- There's no way to scroll vertically instead of horizontally, while last I checked, mice have *vertical* scroll wheels, not horizontal ones (and the few which do support a horizontal scroll still aren't as ergonomic to use)

That's all for now.

I've been extremely happy with 10.3.3. I handle production at an ad agency and as such power-use a mac at least 10 hours a day. As soon as my last vital piece of software (ironically Outlook w/Exchange) was OSX compliant, I wiped everything clean and did complete reinstalls so that I'd have no remnants of OS9. I haven't looked back. It's been very smooth sailing and I have no complaints.

Hi Whiskers.

I went over and read your posting on trikuare and while what you say may be true, that simply does not give you the right to decree that something, as you so eloquently put it, "sucks."

You are obviously one of those people that doesn't like to look for the positives. Instead, you waste your time burrowing down deep to find the littlest and pettiest discrepancies in order that you may come out into the sunshine and scream "EUREKA!" as you irresponsibly sling mud over everything.

Spot, I'd like you to try this exercise. Construct a list of all of the good things about OSX. If you truly maintain an open mind and demonstrate NO bias, I'm sure that your new list will far outweigh your old list. You'll be happier too. More likely, you'll just move on to the next thing that you deem "sucks."

Okay. Enough of my rant. I've got to return this soapbox to its rightful owner.

You mean like this? http://trikuare.cx/mt/archives/000428.php

Or this? http://trikuare.cx/mt/archives/000431.php

Suckness is relative. The OSX.3 finder is way better than any other file manager I've ever used. But it's still less than perfect. Which, for anyone who has any sense of context about the way I talk about things, "sucks." (If I actually hate something it fucking sucks.)

But I'm not going to be blind to bad stuff in OSX just because it happens to be my favorite OS. I've spent plenty of time ranting and raving about how wonderful OSX is. I think I've earned the right to point out a few valid places where it sucks at this point.

There are a few problems with 10.3.3's finder but none of them would make it suck. If you have used Windows XP now that sucks. The 10.3.3 finder was a big imporvement from 10.2.8s. There is really nothign to be compliaing 'bout.
