Little wonder that Dean stayed home in Vermont today only to have the AFSCME withdraw support.
Oh and another thing which I find interesting. Even though the Dean campaign managed to raise $700,000K in two days, at this late date they've only been able to raise $1,104,783.51 by 10pm est on Saturday night. Isn't that kind of odd?
Posted by joy at February 7, 2004 10:08 PM | TrackBackDean's campaign will be examined for many years by dems and repubs alike. i'm a Clark man myself and i'll be ok w/ voting for Kerry in November but i still marvel and the ride Dean had.
Posted by: trouble at February 8, 2004 10:40 PMThis is very true; the fund raising and supporters Gov. Dean garnered will be a model for future campaigns.
His problems seemed to come up at either the point in time he declared Saddam Hussein ought to be covered by the US Bill of Rights or when VP Al Gore endorsed him -- both events happened around the same time. Every candidate makes gaffes, but Dr. Dean seemed to make one right after another right after another and that's when his slide began.
Still, even if his Wisconsin bid isn't bright, he could run as a 3rd party. Much of the DNC would call him the Nader or Perot of '04, but he's largely thumbed his nose at the existing DNC, so it's not out of the realm of possibility.
