Fall pics 03

I was playing around last night with iPhoto and decided that instead of doing a long photo blog, I'd put the photos into a QuickTime movie, just because I can.

Download Fall Pictures.mov

Click below for the photo captions in order since I didn't add them to the movie.

1. Photo from Cherry Street parking garage in Burlington two weeks ago. Ok, so I thought it looked kinda cool.

2. Driving on I-89 two weeks ago, near Winooski. The falls are powering a small hydroelectric dam on the Winooski River.

3. A bit later that same day, driving home.

4. Main Street, downtown Burlington on Friday, the 24th. I was driving my daughter and a friend to the local science museum. The picture includes a sign made famous on an album by a certain Vermont hippie band.

5. Lower Main Street (still facing westward) looking over Lake Champlain and The Adirondacks. One thing I love about Burlington is the view, and on that day, even though it was cloudy, the air was clear and crisp. Also, the photo features (you can't see it) a Dean for America bumper sticker on one of the cars.

6. Outside the Echo Center, which is bascially a local science museum featuring flora and fauna from the Champlain Valley. Senator Pat Leahy was instrumental in getting taxpayer dollars to upgrade the center featuring the sixth Great Lake. Nevermind.

7. Inside the Echo Center, on the second floor landing looking up at the third floor. This is represenative of the architecture in the building.

8. Third floor by the kids water activity, looking at a finely crafted globe sculpture.

9. Some type of fish found in Lake Champlain. Exciting.

10. Echo Center worker giving a talk about how they feed the animals. Friday was turtle feeding time.

11. View from Echo Center over the lake. A ferry is in the background.

12. Second view from the Echo Center over the lake.

13. Anyone care for an eye of newt? At least it's a native newt.

14. Downstairs, near the shipwreck exhibit, which you can see the lights of reflected in the glass. Another example of a Lake Champlain fish.

15. The temporary exhibit this month is the bat exhibit, which my daughter really wanted to see. No live bats, but learning stations and lifelike models and odd little bronzed sculptures of bats. This one is a head of a Mexican bat.

16. After we left the Echo Center, we crossed the driveway and took a gander at the water for a bit. This picture is of the Burlington Boathouse.

17. & 18. My daughter took these pictures of the ducks and she asked if I would put them on my website.

I wanted to make the photos small enough to be comfortably downloaded. Certain people who read my blog only have dialup.

Yay pics! Makes me miss being a little kid in New England. Oh and as for music, Dream Academy's "Life in a Northern Town" was playing in my head. =)
