Ben and Jerry's Blogging
Oh yes, I can definitely say that there is wifi on Church Street in Burlington, VT. I'm sitting at the front of the Ben and Jerry's here with my daughter taking advantage of the wifi.
Oh my it is fast. It looks to be a 802.11b network, since I'm getting about 11Mbps throughput according to Network Utility. hehe.
I'm happy to report that it's a beautiful fall day here in VT. Some wind coming off of the water, but comfortable and partly sunny.
Update: Wound up at Bruegger's Bagels and had a late lunch. Up on the third floor overlooking Church Street, I could see two private networks.

Posted by: iain at September 27, 2003 08:33 PMKisMAC doesn't work with Airport Extreme cards, but it looks as if iStumbler does...

And no, I didn't think about war-driving the route until I was nearly home.

Posted by: Paul at September 28, 2003 11:25 AMThe only publicly available network on Church street is one operated by our company, Soundtivity Wireless, Inc.
Our hotspot service Onspot is being beta tested until Thursday this week. It's currently free (u: demo p: demo), but will be launched as a for-pay service starting at $5.95 for 24 hours, or 28.95 monthly.
We also provide fixed wireless service for residential customers at the aforementioned price.
