girly matters - nailpolish and politics

I think one of the coolest things about having a school age daughter (for me at least), is that we can now explore the girly things together. Last night before she went to bed, she requested that she be able to paint her nails. Of course she insisted that she do it herself, so after she was done, I introduced her to the use of that mysterious stinky product, nail polish remover.

Oh, and a few days ago, a news show about the recall election was on the television and she was asking questions about what an election was and how voting is important. (I make it a point to take her in the booth with me and I allow her to put the paper ballot into the counting machine.)

There's nothing like talking about politics with a 5 year old. And yes, I am pleased that she *is* aware enough about the world around her to ask these questions.

Mixing up nail polish and paint can be a problem... for radiators and the odd room in a dolls house.
I have to say that the new gold sparkley knobs on cupboards and draws could be considered a work of art.

"Enjoy them while they are young.
Teenage years are soon to come."
